Steelhead & Salmon Flies

Flies used for Steelhead angling can trace their roots back to European Salmon Flies. They feature vibrant colors, long flowing feathers and hair, along with some flashy materials. Some would consider them more of a lure than a fly. Most are designed to stimulate a fish through one (or all) of the a fishes instincts - fight, feed, protect.

Below are some of our favorites for use on Pacific Northwest rivers and streams. We wouldn't be caught on the water without these flies on board!

Steelhead Flies - Metal Butt Skunk Metal Butt Skunk

2 Flies - $12.00

A moderately weighted variation of the Classic "Skunk" hariwing fly that gets down quickly and drifts a little deeper than most hairwings due to the colored copper wire wraps at the rear of the fly.

Casts and swings nicely with single hand, switch and spey rods.

Three color variations to choose from. Size 1.5 only

Steelhead Flies - Bunny Matuka Bunny Matuka

2 Flies - $12.00

A big beefy fly for big water. Some would call it a cross between a leach and a baitfish pattern. All I know is that it catches fish!

Casts and swings nicely with single hand, switch and spey rods.

Four color variations to choose from. Size 1.5 only.

Steelhead Flies - Thor Skinny Thor

A slimmed down version of the traditional hairwing pattern. Same great color combination, but slimmer body of angora dubbing instead of chenille. A late summer / early fall favorite!

Casts and swings nicely with single hand, switch and spey rods.

Hook sizes 2 and 4 available
